Objective: Virgin Records approached Billups Design in 2006 to contribute creative and strategic ideas to a viral email newsletter that would promote the rock group Gorillaz for a special appearance on MTV's Total Request Live. The email campaign was designed using approved Gorillaz graphic materials and copy.
Solution: Billups Design recommended additional marketing and ecommerce functionality: link to purchase music and email share with a friend and a Flash-embedded movie.
Results: The campaign was a huge success, ensuring the band's appearance on TRL one week later and increased visits to a remote ecommerce area.
